About Us
Over 70 years developing Shorthorns genetics, focused solely on functional, predictable seedstock production.
The farm was purchased in 1942 and Shorthorns arrived shortly after with the purchase of our first registered cow "Tyrone Bell." A.L. Graham used the herd name of Buzzard View in the early years but changed the name to Rockdell Shorthorns in 1960.
Cattle have been shown at major shows across Western Canada over the years and we are proud to have exhibited cattle at every Lloydminster Stockade Round-up since its start 36 years ago.
Here at Rockdell we raise functional cattle. Historically, Rockdell has always been a family operation and we are
happy to see a fourth generation loving the cows. We believe "If we look after the cows, then they will look after us."
The power of the maternal influence is proven here at Rockdell."
The Buckingham cow family dates back over 60 years to the purchase of Shirley Buckingham from Sydney Berry. The maternal strength of this family has been
proven year after year with the females always weaning superior offspring.
On the bull side, the herd changer was WF Wankels Pride W38G. The stamp he placed on the cow herd is still evident today over a decade later. His most noteworthy son Rockdell Pride 50K proved to be a very consistent and popular bull.
Presently, we calve 65 purebred cows and Shorthorns continue to graze the hills near the Battle River.
